My wife, Sharon, and I picked up this bears-in-boat figurine on a vacation trip to Montana, where we learned to fly fish. In fact, this painting was inspired by our fly fishing mis-adventures. Sweetest Catch was painted in the traditional still life style popularized by the Dutch Masters over 400 years ago. Note the smooth surface quality, the defined shadows, and the smooth transition of the background from light in the center to dark on the edges.
“Buzzy Bee” was a popular 1950s Fisher-Price toy. It features a wooden body and lovely lithographed paper printing. The vintage Canadian honey cans are from the 1930s.
