The idea for Monkey Business came from my very own home.
My wife Sharon and I have seven grandchildren under the age of seven - and when any number of them are running around the house and studio, it is complete and utter monkey business! Plus, my little rascals are big fans of bananas at snack time, so the idea of wiggly little creatures who climb all over everything and eat bananas is entirely familiar to me.
Much like the center ring of a big top at the circus, the lighting is front-and-center leaving the background pitch black for drama. I used enough blue-toned light to make the supple fruit skin gleam and the plastic toys shine, but not so much as to wash out the image and make it stark.
