Cat's Cradle

Material and Finishing
  • Unending fun for felines

What is it about string and cats?  It may be their hunting instinct, chasing a ball of string around a room.  Maybe it's the texture they love, because they certainly like the fabric of my carpet and furniture.  Whatever the reason, they love it and we sure love to watch them play with string.

Since I had the ball of string out, I decided to introduce my six granddaughters to the unending string game, "Cat's Cradle."  I may come to regret that!

  • A chalkboard background provides a familiar, friendly way for me to introduce a story into the still life setting. To get the correct chalky texture, I drew on the painted surface with oil pastels, erased the words, then re-drew the final dietary confession.  The use of a single object gives the piece a minimalist feel and highlights that object.

  • All Richard Hall prints are limited edition and hand-signed and numbered by the artist.

All of our prints are finished with a coating that protects the print and enhances light-fastness; we use the highest quality pigmented inks with an estimated lifetime of 118 years.

Canvas giclées: Edition of 50 (for all sizes), signed and numbered on the back of the piece. Archivally mounted or stretched and hand-coated with protectant. Framed canvas giclées are hand-framed in our studio with an espresso-colored frame with gold-tone lip. Unframed canvas giclées should not be framed with glass.

Paper giclées: Edition of 250 for 12” x 16” sizes; edition of 125 for 18” x 24”. Printed on high-quality, acid-free paper and comes with a hand-cut mat that fits into a standard-size frame. We recommend that you use a frame with glass to ensure longevity of your paper print.

The listed sizes of 12x16 and 18x24 include the white mat, the actual image size is smaller.
