About Richard B. Hall Giclée Prints

Professionally printed limited edition giclées

Richard’s print and frame studio is managed by his wife, Sharon, who is an industry professional with over 30 years framing and printing experience.

What is a giclée print?

The word giclée is pronounced "gee-clay" and is derived from the French word "gicler" which means to "spray." Giclée prints are specialty prints that use high-resolution inkjet technology to apply thousands of drops of ink to the printed surface.

Our giclée prints are made with high quality and archival materials and are estimated to have a life between 70 and 100 years.

Are your giclée prints in limited editions?

Yes! All Richard B. Hall giclée prints are limited editions. Paper prints are hand-signed by Richard, titled and numbered on the front, under the image. Canvas giclées are hand-signed by Richard on the front, and titled, signed and numbered on the back.

What about framing?

For canvas prints

For giclée prints on canvas, you may choose to purchase it framed or have the canvas sent rolled for you to have framed by the framer of your choice.

Our framing is done by hand by Sharon Hall. We offer one style of framing: a tasteful espresso frame with gold lip accent.

If you prefer to frame your print yourself, your canvas giclée prints will arrive rolled in a tube, ready to take to the framer. Do not use glass over a canvas print.

Please note: Many of our canvas prints are not standard size and will require custom framing.

For paper prints

All our paper prints come with a professionally-cut, acid free mat, ready for framing in a standard-size frame. All giclée prints on paper must be matted and framed under glass.

Please note: Our paper prints are standard sizes and can fit in ready-made frames. Some images have been adjusted from the size of the original painted image.

* 20x20 ready-made frames are available online in a variety of styles.

Do you paint over or texture your giclées?

No, there is no need to. Some artists add paint or texturing to mimic the brushstrokes of their original paintings; Richard’s original paintings have a very smooth varnished surface so he does not texture the prints.

Do other printers also make authentic Richard B. Hall prints?

No. Because of its timeless appeal, Richard’s work is frequently copied by unscrupulous overseas vendors. Accept no substitutes - only prints created at the Richard B. Hall Fine Art studio carry our quality guarantee. You can find authentic prints only through this website or through our official fine art gallery partners.
