How many items are on your to-do list? I have several - most of which are scribbled on sticky notes that litter my studio. Multitasking was born on a particularly frustrating day when I had more pending tasks than time. I’m sure you can understand feeling a stretched a bit too thin!
I had fun with the blue painter’s tape that holds our stretchy friend in place. I painted the tape in a trompe l'oeil style - a visual illusion where the eye perceives the painted subject as real. The tape looks as if it has been stuck on (But it hasn’t!)
The abstract background was designed to add to the drama of the image. I started with light tones and then used a large brush to paint a great big X in the center to draw your eyes to the source of the tension.
If you would like a peek into my studio while I painted Multitasking, I invite you to check out my videos on Instagram. I have several clips showing the progression of this painting.
